1. Your First Burn (The Most Important Step)
Why It Matters
The first burn sets the “memory” of the wax.
A poor first burn can cause tunneling — a deep hole that wastes wax and weakens the scent throw.
What To Do
Burn your candle until the entire top layer of wax has melted all the way to the edges.
This may take 2–3 hours depending on your vessel.
Do not extinguish early — let the melt pool reach a full, even surface.
2. Trim the Wick — Every Time
Why It Matters
A long wick creates smoke, soot, high flames, and faster wax consumption.
A trimmed wick leads to a cleaner, calmer burn.
What To Do
Trim the wick to ¼ inch (6 mm) before every burn.
Use wick trimmers for precision (scissors work in a pinch).
Remove any debris or wick pieces from the surface.
3. Ideal Burn Time
The Sweet Spot
To prolong your candle's life and protect its quality:
Burn for 1–3 hours per session.
Avoid burning for more than 4 hours — the vessel can overheat and fragrance oils can burn off too quickly.
4. Protecting the Flame
Candle Safety + Performance
Your candle performs best in a steady environment.
Place away from fans, vents, or open windows.
Avoid drafty areas.
Keep away from curtains, paper, or anything flammable.
5. Keep the Vessel Clear
Clean Burn = Beautiful Vessel
Remove burnt wick pieces or matches.
Keep the melt pool free of debris.
Wipe the inside rim of the vessel occasionally with a dry cloth (when cool).
6. Extinguishing Your Candle
The Right Way
Use a snuffer to extinguish gently and avoid wax splashing.
Or dip the wick into the melt pool with a wick dipper, then re-center it.
Avoid blowing it out — it causes smoke and soot.
7. Reusing Your Vessel
How to Clean
Let remaining wax cool.
Place vessel in the freezer for 30 minutes.
Pop out hardened wax.
Wash with warm water and mild soap.
Your MachMoon vessel is meant to be cherished long after the final burn.
